Life’s hard, and only the strong survive. Have you heard someone say this before? Do you believe it? Life is hard. I get it… From the endless distractions, decisions, stress, and anxiety that limits not only what you do but how you do it.

I recently took a course that had much to do with shifting perspectives. The perspective you’re in right now affects every other area of your life.

Such as your decisions, attitude, beliefs, actions, ideas, etc. If your life has been challenging, is there a reason why?

Do you think it’s supposed to be hard?

What if it were easy…

(I want you to ponder this statement above for a minute).

What you believe is vital to what you do and who you become.

Perspective # 1 - The Argument

Let’s look at a quick example of being in an argument with someone.

It could be your boss, partner, parents, siblings, business partner, or some keyboard warrior online.

There are likely disagreements, frustration, stress, and pressure when you're in the heat of an argument.

You or the other person may raise your voice.

You may start to sweat and get clammy hands.

When you’re in this perspective of an argument, do you usually resolve it quickly?

I’m going to take a swing and say it’s doubtful…

Do you feel good about what you do or what you say? Again, not likely.

So, I think it’s safe to say that it’s hard to make clear decisions and execute appropriately when you're coming from this place.

What if you changed perspectives?

What if you genuinely tried to understand and see the situation from the opposing person's side?

Your view may shift, and your perspective will change.

I’m not saying to agree with that person and move on, but you’ll have a much better understanding of where they’re coming from and make better decisions now.

Perspective # 2 - The Win

What do you think about when I say winning?

Triumph, champions, victory, hard work, excitement, emotion, and limitlessness come to mind.

What could you do when you’re so focused on winning and being a champion?

I’m going to guess pretty much anything.

Your focus, drive, determination, discipline, and grit have to be at an elite level to win.

Whether you win in track in field, a business client, or the girl.

All of these scenarios are different, but coming from the perspective of winning opens the doors to unlimited possibilities.

At least, that’s the way I see it.

Your perspective may be different, and that’s ok.

There are no right or wrong answers here.

Perspective # 3 - Being Flexible

Flexibility means being adaptable. Be open to changing circumstances, ideas, ways of doing something, or structure.

Flexibility is important to running a business, performing in your job, and showing the right attitude when things change - which they often do.

If you’re stuck in your way, hard-headed or stubborn, what if you came from a perspective of being flexible?

How would that change your view on a situation and life?

I’ve learned over many years that " going with the flow” is really important to lowering stress and being happy.

If every little detail that goes out of place makes you mad or angry, you’ll have a tough time.

If you could bring a perspective of flexibility to your career, relationships, money, habits, and more, what would it do for you?

How would it benefit you?

Or maybe, how wouldn’t it benefit you?

Flexibility is necessary, and coming from this perspective often is helpful.

Conclusion

Well, now you have 3 different perspectives that you can use or not use.

The important lesson of this post is that being open to new perspectives is where the magic lies.

While this will come easier to some people rather than others, I challenge you to give it a shot.

Try a new perspective when facing your next hard decision at work or an argument with your partner.

What would help you in that moment?

Don’t forget to take a step back and breathe.

When things aren’t going your way, it’s easy to get flustered and rigid.

Finally, I’ll leave you with, what if it were easy?
