Putting in effort takes work and time, but in the end, it separates the people that achieve things and the people who do little. Be the best you can be in everything you do. This is what I’ll be diving into today. When someone puts in their best work into something they’re doing - whether it be work, a side project, a business, going to the gym, saving money, or anything in between.

I was told at a young age to always give whatever I was doing my best effort - to be the best I could be.  If I did my best and didn’t reach my intended results it didn’t matter. This could never be more true today. If you put in 110% effort into saving money and fall short of a goal will you be disappointed? Hardly… When you put in the effort you live a life of meaning and importance - what everyone is really chasing.

Regrets

I’m sure you’ve heard or read before of people’s regrets on their deathbed. Whether it be from working too much, not spending enough time with family, or not being true to themselves.

Regretting something is a tough pill to swallow. At the moment you may be oblivious to what you are neglecting but then over time, you find out when it’s too late the issue. While this isn’t the case for everyone it is very common.

When you put in your all to everything you do you will be well on your way to living a full life true to yourself. This will ensure you won’t have as many regrets in the end. Sometimes it’s so hard to take a step back and see your entire life as a whole from another person’s view.

While we all may have some regrets in our lives if you can avoid some you will be more fulfilled and happier.

Feel Good

When you do your best at something you feel good about it. While you may not achieve your desired results (as discussed earlier) you will still feel satisfied as you did all you could. I have many scenarios that played out like this in my life.

For example, I used to play a lot of different sports. In lacrosse, I played on a rep team for many seasons (a higher calibre travel team). There was a  team 1 and a slightly lower calibre team 2. I was good but didn’t excel on team 1 by any means. I remember one year going to 2 weeks of tryouts, some of the hardest I’ve ever endured. The most suicides, sprints, physical, and mental hell to date. I put in every ounce of energy I had and more into those tryouts and still got cut.

I was devastated, all of my hard work seemed to be for nothing in the end. But after a bit, I started to realize that it wasn’t wasted effort, that in fact, that effort helped me to excel in so many other areas further from the sport itself. I know situations like this can do the same for you as long as you put in the maximum effort you can.

We as humans can push a lot further than we think we can. Your mind is the limiting factor in your life and if you never reach past your limits you will never excel past them.

We all want to feel good in life. If you put in minimal effort into a tryout or test you’re going to get mediocre results. You get out what you put in, and when you put in a high amount of time and energy you will feel better about the situation overall.

Couch Potato vs CEO

Do you want to know the difference between a couch potato and a CEO? A CEO shows up every day and solves problems to his/her best ability no matter what happens. A couch potato is lazy and makes excuses as to why they can’t do anything or why tomorrow they will finally start doing what they want.

The time is now to go after what you want. The timing is never going to be perfect so just get to work and put in your best effort. Everyone is good at something, if you’ve yet to find that something keeps experimenting. I’ve been experimenting for the past decade now and am still learning more each and every day.

Doing what you want will take time, but if you stick with it long enough and believe you can do it you will reach your end goal.

Now the question is what are you going to put 110% effort into? What are you going to do to change your own world? It’s time to get to work.
